Let me welcome you and your child to my class. As your child's teacher, I look forward to working with you throughout this school year. Together we can make this a great year. In order to carry out the programs of the district and Wood Elementary, it is important that we have good classroom discipline. Those rules and consequences are as follows:
Rules:
1. Be prepared for class
2. Raise hand for permission to speak
3. Follow directions first time given
4. Use time wisely
5. Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself
6. Be respectful to adults and peers / be respectful of school & personal property
If a student chooses to break a rule:
1st time: Name taken and student given a warning
2nd time: Check mark by name - planner/conduct card signed
3rd time: Another check by name - planner/conduct card signed
Parents and the office will be notified when the teacher feels it is
necessary to do so in order to maintain positive classroom
discipline.

10 Tips for Reading With Your Children
Today is a great day to start a book with your child. The tips that follow will help make reading together more rewarding for you and your child.
1. Try to read a book or story to your child every day.
2. Sit close together when you read to really "share" the book.
3. Point out the words as you read them, and have your child point too.
4. Have your child turn the pages for you.
5. Discuss the story as you go along and answer any questions.
6. If your child gets restless, choose another story, or postpone the reading until later.
7. Take your child to the library or a bookstore and together pick out books to read.
8. When your child brings a book home, read it together as soon as possible.
9. Let your child play with books and always have them around.
10. Set a good example by letting your child see you read often.
This year we have 2 magic creatures in our classroom by the names of Grizwold Grizzly and Mimi the Moose. Grizwold and Mimi will be assisting us in our writing this year. They love to receive letters (and promise to write return letters) to our children. They also love to be cuddled while someone reads them a story. Your child should be able to tell you all about Grizwold and Mimi and how he/she can earn "Koalaty Dollars" to spend on reading time with them.
