Welcome to P.E.
Beckham Elementary students will participate in the Jump Rope for Heart during the month of February. Heart health is something that is very important for kids to understand. We spend lots of time in class discussing how the activities that we do help to make our hearts strong and healthy. Brochures will go home with each student in 3rd through 6th grade on February 13th. The students will have until February 27th to collect donations. All donations need to be turned in by February 28th. This is the day we will have the Jump Rope competitions in PE class.

For the month of January, we will be learning about basketball. Students will be able to make chest and bounce passes, dribble with ease and shoot with the correct form. We will perform many skills that they can practice at home. All they would need at home is a basketball. I hope your children enjoy learning about the game of basketball.
 Goal for 2011-2012I have a passion to see children acquire a love for physical activity and healthy life habits. My goal this year is for each child to learn what it means to have a lifelong goal for physical fitness and health.
We will play many games that will require them to be active. We will be learning about the food pyramid and how this knowledge can benefit them for a lifetime. I want each child to be motivated in PE to find what interests them and how they can apply it to their lives on a daily basis.

Personal:
I am a mother of four children. Austin is a Junior, Brett is a sophomore, Cara is in the 7th grade and Daphne is in the 6th grade. Most of my time is spent going to soccer, football and baseball games. My family attends Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ where I teach children's classes. I serve on the PTA and am a member of the band and athletic booster clubs.
Teaching has always been a passion for me. I appreciate you sharing your child with me this year and I look forward to the exciting journey.
