Notebook Guidelines:
Student Planner:
- Students are to write their assignments in the appropriate subject
boxes for that day/week.
- Below the line for parents to initial is an area for communication
between parents and teachers.
Pockets:
V.I.P. - Students place papers in this pocket that need your immediate attention.
l- This may be an important notification, require a signature, or an action
of some kind is about to/needs to occur.
F.Y.I. - This is often a flier or other form of communication that is being sent home.
Homework - This is where students are to keep their homework until it is required
by the teacher. Please don't keep homework at home. Often during
class time, students are asked if they have any questions regarding
homework. At such time, if questions arise, all students are asked to
take a look at that particular question and the class may work together,
or strategies discussed. It will be to the benefit of your child to keep
homework in this pocket.
Graded Papers - These have been returned to the student following grading. It would
be prudent to keep these papers until the end of the six weeks, just in
case any questions arise with grades or report cards at the end of the
six weeks.
Math Weekly Practice:
Homework Packet – Due on Friday.
- Content or concept practice sheets in the packet are for the week.
- These will usually be a review from instruction the previous week.
- Included in the packet, will be drill practice sheets that prep
students for the drill practice quizzes.
- The packet will be given on Mondays and will be due on Fridays.
Moose Math – This is part of our daily routine. The activity sheet is comprised of
problems that cover a variety of mathematical concepts.
As students review the assortment of concepts, the skills are
practiced and kept sharp.
- Time is set aside during class to work on problems independently,
and then reviewed, and/or discussed whole group.
- These sheets are kept in the classroom, then sent home at the end
of the week. Answers are reviewed, discussed, and graded in class.
These are not for a formal/recorded daily grade.
Library:
By being in Mrs. Winkle's OR Mrs. Frank's homerooms, this means the following:
- For Math and Science, their teacher is Mrs. Winkle
- For Language Arts and Social Studies, their teacher is Mrs. Frank.
- All of Winkle's and Frank's homeroom students visit the library each week on Tuesday!
*Important – Students are tested over questions that come from what they have read, with
the Take Home Readers and library books. These AR tests are part of their
weekly grades. Please ask your child questions about what he/she has read,
to help him/her become solid in the understanding of the reading material.
Reading Log - The log sheet is for recording ALL books read by the student.
Use school library books, home library, public library, take home readers,
and any other literary resource.
Before you return these books, please be sure your child can read
the books with few mistakes.
