Course Descriptions


Interior Design

A laboratory course that covers concepts and skills needed to successfully decorate a home and/or business. Students will learn about period styles, surface treatments, lighting, use of design, space planning, considerations of occupant needs, and furniture arrangement. Course is available to sophomores, juniors and seniors. One semester course (1/2 credit)

 

Child Development

 

Students will study various aspects of parenting and child development, including pre-natal development, birth defects, labor and delivery, and care of the newborn, infant, toddler, and preschooler. Course is available to juniors and seniors. One semester course (1/2 credit)

 

Textiles and Apparel Design

Apparel is the prerequisite for this advanced clothing course. Students will acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in the design of textiles and apparel. The selection, use, and care of textile products is presented. Students will explore careers in the design, production and marketing areas of the apparel industry. This is a laboratory class that teaches students skills in design, production, garment construction, costing and marketing. One semester course (1/2 credit)

 

 

Nutrition and Food Science

 

This laboratory class focuses on good nutrition for a healthy lifestyle and the basics of food preparation and meal management. Students will learn to plan simple meals and prepare them. This course is available to sophomores, juniors and seniors. One semester course (1/2 credit)
