Math: Please study addition, subtraction, and multiplication at home. We are still reviewing rounding...please practice to the nearest ten & hundred. We have studied geometric, 3-D shapes such as the rectangular prism, sphere, triangular prism, cylinder, and cube. We have studied measurement....please review 1/4, 1/2, and 3/4 inch. We are learning how to do division by recognizing the fact family. (How many members in a fact family? 4!!) All of these concepts will be tested on TAKS...please take any opportunity to point out math at home!

Reading/LA/Spelling: February is Black History Month. We have been reading about famous Black Americans and the contributions they have made. We made a life size double bubble map in the 3rd grade lower pod hallway. We used this to practice compare/contrast, facts, details, as well as fact/opinion. Students worked VERY hard on this....if you have a chance, please come by and take a look! We have learned many facts and several new words....ask your student about the word "boycott".
Social Studies: We are studying Map Skills....we are learning all about the parts of a
map and how maps are used. Look around and see what kind of maps you can find at home!
Science: We completed a study of speed, motion, and position. Last week, we started a new unit about the Sun and Solar System. Ask your child to tell you about sunspots and coronas!!
